What Is Yoni in Astrology? 14 Yoni Types and Compatibility

What Does Yoni Mean?

In Sanskrit, “Yoni” means “origin” or “womb”. In Vedic astrology, Yoni denotes the cosmic creative energy that shapes one’s inborn nature, behaviour and intimate compatibility.

Astrologers determine an individual’s Yoni with their Janma Nakshatra (Birth star), where the Moon was positioned at their exact time of birth. There are 27 Nakshatras and 14 Yoni types in Vedic astrology. Multiple Nakshatras share the same Yoni. Yoni type helps understand one’s innate nature and compatibility with others.

Why Does Yoni Matter in Compatibility?

Yoni compatibility determines physical chemistry, instinctive relationships, long-term intimacy and sexual harmony between couples. Hence, Yoni compatibility is an inevitable part of the Indian marriage system.

Significance of Yoni Matching

Yoni matching helps understand how two individuals fix physically, emotionally, and impulsively in a relationship. It concludes whether their natural energies can support harmony, attraction, and mutual understanding. Couples with strong Yoni matching will have better communication, and they will lead a more balanced married life.

Five Types of Yoni Matches

  1. Same Yoni: Couples with the same Yoni earn four points and have good physical comfort.
  2. Friendly Yoni: If a couple’s Yonis are friendly to each other, it earns three points, which brings a healthy relationship between them.
  3. Neutral Yoni: If a couple’s Yonis are neutral, it gains two points, which means both can adjust in a relationship.
  4. Opposite Yoni: If a couple has opposite yonis, they earn only one point; it means they will have sexual conflicts in their relationship.
  5. Enemy Yoni: If a couple has enemy Yonis, it gains zero points. This indicates the pair will have the worst sexual relationship and may suffer from physical blockages, which can cause health problems. Enemy Yoni causes Yoni Dosha.

Astrologers will not advise a marriage if a pair does not have good Yoni compatibility. Enemy Yoni may void physical interest between couples and cause severe conflicts. Opposite Yoni may also cause physical dissatisfaction among couples in married life.
